NAPOLEON DYNAMITE AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION MOVIE NIGHT
It was indeed a pretty sweet movie night at the Menomonee Falls High School on Saturday night, April 29th for the Falls Youth Initiative Youth Council's Napoleon Dynamite Audience Participation Movie Night. Even though the power was out in and around the high school almost until show time, fans still arrived and were given a bag of goodies to help them "get into" the movie. Participation kits included candy to throw when the Summer pinata was broken, a bottle of water to chug with Napoleon, a LaFawnduh sign to hold up with Kip, a flashlight to wave when Napoleon tried out the time machine, beef jerky to eat every time Uncle Rico was caught eating steak, chapstick to slap on when Napoleon called home, and even bubbles to blow during the dance scene. In all, there were more than 42 actions and participation stunts for audience members to get involved. Why? JUST FOR FUN! Winners of the costume contest were Caitlin Ignasiak, Keaton Shurilla, Brad Collins, Erin Dederich, Brandon Yahn and Erin Fraundorf. After the movie, everyone enjoyed yummy, toasty tater tots! Thank you to all who helped and everyone who attended - especially Jason and Joan from the Community Education and Recreation Department. And thank you to Wyeth Labs for donating all that Chapstick and Oberto for all that Beef Jerky!
5K FUN RUN/WALK More than 200 runners and walkers turned out for the first annual School District of Menomonee Falls 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 29th. Twenty members of the Falls Youth Initiative Youth Council were on hand to help guide the runners along the route. The event, organized by district Physical Education teachers, was designed to promote health and fitness and create awareness of the rise of childhood obesity. Proceeds from the event will be put toward scholarships for high school seniors entering health related fields.
